Project

Working in collaboration with Oculus Studios and the Richter Spielgeräte design team, Maritime Cove Community Park was created as a playspace steeped in the traditions of seafaring and the maritime history of the area.

Design

To enhance the context of the site, which is nestled in a sandy foreshore setting, the playspace design incorporated a variety of decommissioned and re-purposed maritime objects, including mooring buoys and channel markers.

Maritime Cove Community Park

Equipment

Our partners Richter Spielgeräte provided stunning timber play equipment suitable for all ages and abilities for the Maritime Cove project.

Centrepiece of the park is a tall tower combination, comprised of a bespoke Lifeguard tower with a stainless steel tube slide, attached to a timber bridge and two platform huts. This combination offers children maximum play value and unlimited climbing opportunities.

There’s a large Richter climbing structure, which was crafted from hand-processed irregular round logs, and allows younger children to experience heights as they clamber and climb.

The climbing forest is always popular. It helps kids improve their motor skills and build confidence in their ability to both assess and take risks. It’s made from durable European oak and hard-wearing Hercules rope.

Given the foreshore setting, Urbania felt that opportunities for sand and water play were essential to the park. The water play area features a forest fountain and a long handle pump that allows kids to activate jets of water.
