Kosciuszko Primary School

Project

As part of the Victorian Government’s Kindergarten on School Sites (KOSS) initiative, managed by the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA), a new kindergarten was established on the grounds of Kosciuszko Primary School in Traralgon.

This program integrates kindergartens directly within or alongside existing primary schools to create a seamless transition for children from early childhood education to primary school, while simplifying daily logistics for families through convenient on-site drop-off and pick-up.

Urbania was proud to partner with SHAPE as the principal contractor who handled the delivery of the modular building construction and associated works for the new kindergarten facility, while Urbania was contracted to provide the external works package for the hard and soft landscaping.

Design

Our works began with essential site preparation, including earthworks, drainage installation, and realignment of the school’s running track on the oval. We then brought the outdoor areas to life adhering to the thoughtful design by
Fraser Design Studio.

We supplied and installed synthetic turf for durable play surfaces, prepared and laid crazy paving for pathways and gathering spaces, installed coloured concrete footpaths featuring sandblasted patterns for added visual interest and texture, and provided two storage sheds for practical on-site storage.

To add natural charm and sensory appeal, we created a water play creek bed lined with washed river pebbles, strategically placed mudstone boulders and log steppers
for imaginative climbing and exploration and built a dedicated sand pit complete with edging boulders.

We also installed shade sails over the play areas to provide essential sun protection for children and staff.

Our team completed extensive planting and turf installation across the site and designed and installed an automatic irrigation system to sustain the new greenery.

To ensure long-term success, the package incorporated a maintenance and establishment period, allowing the landscapes to settle and thrive under our professional care.

Through this collaborative effort, Urbania helped create inviting, safe, and inspiring outdoor spaces that enrich the educational experience at Kosciuszko Primary School and support the broader goals of the Victorian Government’s KOSS initiative.
