Project

The first new school in Tasmania in many years, Legana Primary School is the result of almost five years of community consultation, planning and building. It reflects the government’s commitment to this rapid growth area.

Design

From the expansive learning courtyard to a contemporary playground overlooking the natural environment, the school’s outdoor areas were designed by SBLA Studio to foster learning and collaboration through play.

Equipment

SBLA Studio engaged the expertise of Urbania for the specification and supply of a wide range of play equipment for the school.

Working in collaboration with our partners Richter Spielgeräte, Urbania supplied a small acrobat rig, which offers endless opportunities for play, including swinging, swaying and balancing.

Also popular with wannabe young acrobats are rotating beams, which require strong physical movement to retain balance. Adventurous young climbers love the bell climbing poles, especially the joy of ringing a bell at the top of the pole.

Toddlers tables and seats are available for kids to take time out and reflect, whilst a number of fun trunk seats and concrete animal sculptures give kids a more sensory experience.

Young children always enjoy conference talk tubes & ear & speaking trumpets, as they get to experiment with amplification and imagine themselves blowing the horn of a ship on a foggy day.

Other Richter equipment that’s popular with the little ones includes a hexagonal timber platform and a sand hoist that lets them play out their construction dreams. Urbania also supplied a custom 3m high stainless steel slide with wave, where kids of all ages truly experience speed and the feeling of freedom.
